Optimum Nutrition has introduced a new Double-Layer Crispy Whey Protein Bar in China, expanding the company’s localized range of convenient sports-nutrition products. The launch was announced through the brand’s ON奥普帝蒙 China account on July 10.
Each 30-gram bar provides 9.3 grams of protein and approximately 110 calories. Optimum Nutrition is positioning the product as a portable protein option that can be consumed before or after exercise or during the day. Two flavors are available: Cocoa Brownie, featuring a dark-chocolate profile, and Peanut Butter, offering a sweet-and-salty nut flavor.
JD.com currently lists several purchasing formats through the ON flagship store. Consumers can purchase an individual 30-gram trial bar in either flavor or a six-bar box containing 180 grams in total. The platform has also listed a promotional Cocoa Brownie package described as “buy one, receive one free, seven bars delivered,” which appears to combine the standard six-bar box with one complimentary bar.
As of July 24, 2026 JD.com is offering single 30g bar for ¥19.8 ($2.92) and a box of 6 bars 30g each for ¥69 ($10.18). With that said, JD.com is promotion-dependent and may vary according to the customer’s location, membership status, available coupons and campaign eligibility. JD.com states that the final selling price and promotional terms are those shown on the product page and at checkout. Consumers should therefore verify the current price before purchasing.
What this means for the dietary supplement industry
The different package configurations create a useful e-commerce purchasing ladder. The single-bar format lowers the cost and commitment required to try the product, while the six-bar box supports repeat purchases. The seven-bar promotional bundle provides an additional incentive during the initial launch period.
The product also reflects the continued expansion of protein nutrition in China beyond traditional powders. Smaller, snack-oriented formats may appeal to consumers seeking convenient protein products that fit into exercise, work and daily routines. Optimum Nutrition’s use of localized flavors, Chinese-language packaging and flexible online purchase options demonstrates how international sports-nutrition brands are adapting their product and e-commerce strategies for the Chinese market.
