Market Entry Product Approvals

Finished Products (B2C): To enter China’s traditional brick-and-mortar retail market, finished branded dietary supplements must be officially registered or filed with the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR). This registration is known as the “Blue Hat” registration.

Finished branded dietary supplements entering China’s market through cross border e-commerce do not necessarily need to be registered. However, this cross-border channel is going through some changes that may impact the ability of some branded products to successfully enter the market via cross-border.

Nutritional health ingredients (B2B): Entry requirements depend on existing classifications:

  • Established Ingredients:Must possess an existing approval under the relevant National Standard (GB).
  • New Ingredients:If no GB standard exists, the ingredient is classified as “new” and requires formal approval from the National Health Commission (NHC).

The Association provides comprehensive support in the above scenarios, ensuring your products achieve full legal compliance prior to market entry.

Intellectual Property Protection

Before finalizing a market entry strategy, it is critical to secure your Intellectual Property (IP). The Association works in close coordination with our legal partners in Beijing to facilitate the registration of trademarks and copyrights, safeguarding your brand from the outset.
