PLT Health Solutions Expands Clinical Evidence for ceratiq® Phytoceramides

October 12, 2026

HPA-Global member PLT Health Solutions has announced new clinical research on ceratiq® Phytoceramides, expanding the ingredient’s documented benefits into sensitive skin and dermal density.

ceratiq is a wheat-derived lipid extract rich in phytoceramides and is positioned for use in dietary supplements, functional foods and beauty-from-within products. The new research evaluated a daily dose of 350 mg in two randomized clinical studies.

In the first study, 60 women with confirmed sensitive skin received either ceratiq or placebo. According to PLT, supplementation significantly reduced transepidermal water loss (TEWL), an objective measure of skin barrier function, while also reducing visible redness. After 90 days, improvements in erythema were significant compared with both baseline and placebo.

A second randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study included 40 women with dry to very dry skin. Participants receiving 350 mg of ceratiq daily experienced improvements in dermal density, skin hydration, firmness and wrinkle appearance. Dermal density was measured using ultrasound, while skin firmness was evaluated using a Cutometer.

PLT reported that improvements in dermal density were evident after 30 days and became significant compared with placebo at 90 days. Skin firmness was also significantly improved versus placebo at the end of the 90-day study.

The new studies add to PLT’s broader clinical research program for ceratiq, which has examined areas including skin hydration, wrinkle appearance, barrier function and skin structure.

What This Means for the Industry

Beauty-from-within continues to develop into a more sophisticated segment of the dietary supplement market, with consumers increasingly looking beyond basic beauty claims toward products supported by measurable changes in skin structure, hydration and barrier health.

The new ceratiq research is particularly relevant because it moves beyond appearance-based endpoints and incorporates objective measurements such as TEWL, ultrasound assessment of dermal density and instrumental measurement of skin firmness.

For supplement and functional-food brands, this type of clinical substantiation can help differentiate beauty-from-within formulations in an increasingly competitive market while also creating opportunities to position skin health within the broader healthy aging and longevity category.
